About
Hi there, I'm Sarah! My name is Sarah Tefera and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. For over ten years, I have been dedicated to working collaboratively with Clients to support them in meeting their intentions and goals. My approach In 2013, I obtained a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy. The most common theoretical approaches I utilize in sessions include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma Informed Care, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). My focus In my practice, I typically work with Children and Adults. I have extensive training working with Anxiety, Depression, and Trauma. My communication style My intention is to create a safe and collaborative environment. I strongly believe that a client is the expert in their own body. I want to honor clients' needs while offering evidence-based practices to help support them on their mental health journey. My journey to mental healthcare Doing what I can to help a person feel heard, seen, and supported is one of the greatest privileges of my life. Being able to witness someone's journey in accessing their authentic self and help reduce sources of suffering is what continues to drive my work. My goals for you My role is to support clients in accessing their own internal strengths, holding space for their experiences, and supporting them in meeting their treatment objectives. My first session with you Typically, first session is dedicated to introducing and reviewing my role and exploring areas of concern. My goal is to understand intention of coming to therapy. If, at the end of session, it doesn't feel a good fit for the Client, I want to work collaboratively to help make it a more helpful space or to connect them to other Clinicians.
