About
Hello! My name is Sara Au, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. My approach to therapy is holistic and person-centered, and my areas of focus include working with youth and adults with mood-related concerns (i.e., anxiety, depression), trauma, coping with stress, relationship and life adjustment challenges. My approach The most common theoretical approaches I utilize include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Person-Centered. My focus I typically work with youth, including children and adolescents, and I also see young to older adult populations with diverse backgrounds. I have experience treating youth and adults in a variety of settings, including clinical/private, community, school, and inpatient and remote, primarily through individual counseling. My focus includes working with youth and individuals on improving overall emotional/mood regulation, family and interpersonal relationship conflicts, trauma work, stress reduction, anger management, major life transitions, identity development and self-esteem, and academic/career-related concerns, to name a few. My communication style I create a warm and non-judgmental environment in sessions with my clients to help them feel safe and seen with unconditional positive regard. My journey to therapy I have always had a passion for exploring and understanding the human mind and what drives human thoughts and behaviors. I enjoy learning about the human psyche and how to effectively equip and empower individuals enduring mental health challenges and life stressors with the tools to manage and live fulfilling lives. My goals for you Goal setting is briefly introduced during the initial session and will continue being discussed and developed collaboratively with the client throughout the assessment process in the next couple of sessions after the initial session has occurred.
