About
My name is Sara Helseth and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of California working with clients statewide via Telehealth. I work with pre-teens, adolescents, and young adults, specializing in anxiety, depression, life transitions, and serious mental illness. I use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and a strengths-based approach to help my clients face the challenges of life with the confidence and tools these therapies provide. My approach My approach to therapy is tailored to the specific needs of each individual I work with. I have found that evidence-based approaches, such as Dialectal Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, woven in with utilizing strengths-based therapy, allow the client and I to collaborate and create a meaningful and practical way to better themselves. My focus I enjoy working with pre-teens, adolescents, and young adults dealing with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, and life transitions. My experience in acute inpatient mental health facilities has prepared me for any concern a client may have. I also enjoy working with women struggling with fertility issues, postpartum depression and anxiety, interpersonal relationship difficulties, navigating societal pressures, the challenges of being a military spouse, and early parenting challenges. My communication style My communication style is supportive, nonjudgmental, honest, warm, and empathetic. I want my clients to feel comfortable sharing their life experiences with me as we build a therapeutic relationship. It is my sincere intention that all clients would leave the session feeling heard, understood, and empowered. My journey to therapy I decided to become a therapist because I have always enjoyed helping people work through their problems. I believe every person has the capability to better handle their problems, sometimes we just need a little extra support and guidance.
