Samantha Brown is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Virginia. She obtained her license in the fall of 2013. She has been in the counseling field for over 12 years. Samantha started out her journey as a counselor working with at risk youth doing intensive in-home counseling. She has also worked as a day treatment counselor, mental health support worker, worked in the psychiatric ward in a hospital as well as provided counseling in a college setting. The majority of Samantha's experience as a counselor has been in the outpatient counseling setting. Samantha enjoys working with young adults, individuals and couples. Samantha uses a strength-based approach in treatment and looks at the counseling process as a partnership and an opportunity for clients to actively learn about themselves and set attainable goals for the future. Samantha also looks at adversity as an opportunity for growth rather than a setback. Samantha believes the counseling space is a safe place for people to be able to open up and talk about things that they may otherwise never have the opportunity or courage to share with another person.
