Greetings and thank you for visiting my page! My name is Dr. Samantha Knox and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (DC and Oklahoma), a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (Maryland), and a National Certified Counselor. I have nearly 10 years of experience in mental health. I obtained my Bachelors in Elementary Education from Dillard University, my Masters in Counseling/ Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Trinity Washington University, and my Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from Marymount University.

I have experience in a variety of settings: community based mental health, in-home counseling, school based counseling, hospital settings, private practice, and higher education. I also have a private practice, Aya Behavioral Health, LLC which is located in Washington, DC.

I work with an array of presenting concerns including adjustment disorder; anxiety; depression; trauma; couples; racial identity issues; and LGBTQ related issues. My counseling approach is culturally relevant and sensitive. I also employ Cognitive Behavioral, Narrative, and Adlerian techniques. I have received training in EMDR and have begun the certification process. I am also in the process of completing Level 1 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
