Finding the right therapist can be an intimidating and courageous task. Should we work together, I understand that you are placing trust in me, and I would be honored to sit with you on your journey. I have worked primarily in my own private practice for 25 years, providing outpatient counseling to adults, couples, adolescents, children and families in both rural and urban settings. I have also worked as a school counselor, serving all grade levels, and have provided counseling to women at an obstetrics and gynecology clinic.
I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #2676, Idaho) since 2002. Obtaining this license required completion of a master's degree, postgraduate supervised clinical work, and extensive clinical supervision. I graduated in Counseling and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University with an M.S. degree in l996. My undergraduate degree (B.A.) is in Communications from Washington State University.
I have extensive training in family systems, narrative therapy, use of the Gottman method, couples communication (including high conflict), anxiety, trauma, and am trained to treat trauma using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). In order to maintain current understanding of treatment options, as well as to improve the effectiveness of my work, I participate in a weekly peer consultation group and regularly attend national conferences related to a variety of mental health issues.
