About

Greetings! Let’s get social! Connect with me on Instagram @the.anchored.lotus and keep reading to find out more about me.

I am Roshonda. By training, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, and a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist in Texas. By nature and experience I am a woman, a griever, and an overcomer! My experience has guided my practice. It has guided me to work with, develop, and empower women, and it was guided me to provide comfort to grievers.

Life is a beautiful chaos! When life is beautiful, we navigate it well and laughter, love, and joy overflow in abundance; however, when chaos arrives laughter morphs into sobs; joy converts to sadness; and love turns into hurt and grief. Amid chaos, it is hard to find the beauty in life. My responsibility is to create a warm, non-judgmental, safe space for you to REVEAL your truth; RESOLVE the conflict; RELEASE the shame, disappointment, stress, and hurt; and RESTORE your mind, spirit, faith, and self-worth. I firmly believe you are the CEO and expert in your life. You possess the skills you need to create the life you want. I am experienced in knowing how to resolve intrapersonal conflict. Together we will REVEAL. RESOLVE. RELEASE. RESTORE.

I view my work as a combination of a heart surgeon and a gardener. This combination is equally as important as their individual respective occupations. A heart surgeon treats heart disease and performs heart surgery so the heart will function properly. As your therapist, I treat heart “dis-ease” and perform emotional heart surgery. It’s likely that if you have a heart condition that requires a surgeon, you will not know until you go for an examination or have a heart attack. In my line of work, heart “dis-ease” is tangible. You feel the hurt and the hurt impacts your thoughts, relationships, and perspective. Together we will remove the “dis-ease” of abandonment, grief, self-doubt, depression, etc.

A gardener plants seeds today and reaps a harvest at a future date. As your therapist, my goal is to plant seeds of hope, worth, and resilience. My goal is for you to blossom as you absorb the nutritional benefits of counseling. The benefits of our work may produce a harvest in this growing season, or we may not see the benefits of our work for months or even years down the road. Either way you will reap what we sow. As soon as the conditions are right, you will see your harvest.

I have worked with individuals (children, adolescents, and adults), couples, families, and small groups. My clients have presented with a variety of issues to include: depression; anxiety; self-worth; life transitions; interpersonal and interpersonal conflict; abandonment; grief; domestic violence (male and female); substance abuse; issues impacting the African-American community; parenting; marital conflict; and custody battles. Because of my occupational connection to the criminal justice industry, I am also skilled in helping people navigate the myriad of emotions that surface when you or a loved one is involved in the criminal justice system.

Empowering people to live their best life is my business! Life is too short to remain in a state of discomfort. If you are looking for an authentic, energetic, creative therapist who will educate, support, empower, and challenge you while exercising compassion and accountability then I am your therapist!
Let's gather our tools and get to work! REVEAL. RESOLVE. RELEASE. RESTORE.
