I would like to share a bit about myself as you consider whether or not to set up and appointment with me. I am currently a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with over 30 years of experience, which includes working with individuals, families and couples. In addition to my LCSW, I hold a PhD in Public Health. Additionally, my experience includes work with all age groups and clients from various cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic status. My approach uses cognitive behavioral therapy which focuses on teaching clients how to reframe thoughts which contribute to distress while focusing on identifying individual strengths that could help cope with periods of distress. Furthermore, my approach includes a trauma informed lens which means that I understand that my clients may have prior experience with personal traumatic events and that issues which arise in our sessions, may be triggering for them. My goal is to help my clients process and/or identify those traumas while minimizing subsequent triggers.
Understanding the importance of feeling comfortable and connected to the person you decide to share your thoughts with, some of which can be triggering, I hope that the information that I have shared with you here, will help you in your decision making as it relates to us working together.
