About

I have been in the mental health field for over 16 years; I began in college as a counselor for high school students. After graduation, I provided therapy at an inpatient psychiatric hospital for 10 years. I have always been drawn to the field as a first-generation American in a household that did not know much about or have access to mental health treatment, and I have always prided myself on informing my community and providing the access needed for a healthy life. Between my time in a hospital setting and a nonprofit mental health setting, I have developed a very strategic therapeutic style; I lean toward solution-focused sessions and treatment while being mindful of the trauma we are all exposed to.

Initial sessions focus on the intake process. I am not a fan of reading scripted questions and prefer having an engaging conversation that allows the information to flow naturally. I allow the client to determine progress in most cases. With some clients, we will define concrete goals that can be checked off. With other clients, things are more nuanced and progress is determined collaboratively. I mainly work with adolescents, adults, individuals, couples, and families.

I am most excited about the future of tele-health. With a long career providing in-person services, I am no stranger to the obstacles that come with going to an office. Too many times, therapy is interrupted due to transportation issues, bad weather, and general time constraints. The recent advancements in tele-health make it easier than ever before to seek therapy and reschedule when needed. I have seen firsthand the importance of consistency in treatment.
