Hello, my name is Robin Hunter, and I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist with a focus on individuals, couples, and families. I have many years of experience both in Private Practice and as a Clinical Supervisor in Outpatient County Mental Health Clinics in Southern California. I prefer working on short-term issues that I can assist you in resolving and provide you with resources so you can identify future issues as they arise and resolve them before they become problematic. My approach I utilize a customized approach to every individual, couple, or family I work with. By using a variety of therapeutic techniques, I can best match my skills with what I believe will best assist my clients in recognizing and resolving their conflicts. Some of the theoretical approaches I use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Supportive Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy. My focus I usually work with individuals, couples, and families that have been functioning well but are currently experiencing a specific event or problem that they feel needs to be addressed and discussed with a professional. These problems can typically result in anxiety and/or depression. My communication style I create a relaxed calm environment with my clients. I listen carefully to better understand the situation, and as a means for my clients to understand their behaviors. I help my clients develop the tools to solve their problems that they can apply in future situations. My journey to therapy I initially became an art therapist, as I have always had an interest in helping people and was intrigued with how the artistic process could be utilized in a therapeutic environment. I soon realized that this method was somewhat limiting as many people do not feel comfortable expressing themselves artistically. I then studied and became a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist.
