About
Therapy doesn’t need to be an awkward experience and my hope is that if given a place to be your authentic self, there is a felt sense of safety in our sessions. I work to create a space where you are comfortable by having a less formal structure to sessions. I have a passion for helping people be their own true self and I do this by offering a judgement free space where you can relax in the comfort of your home, and I can also be my authentic self. We are all unique in many ways, so let’s celebrate that! My approach is validating, supportive, engaging, and real. Part of my job is to “poke the bear” some while also meeting you where you are with the goals you desire.
I am versed in a variety of evidence based practices and utilizes them to help my clients find their path to healing. Healing looks different for every person and that is why using a variety of modalities can be beneficial. We also all have different preferences and needs so this isn't a one size fits all shop.
My previous clients have described me as a good listener, funny, creative, and genuine. I enjoy providing psychoeducation to help bring understanding to the symptoms you are experiencing while providing a variety of avenues to cope from things that bring distress. Some of my personal favorites come from nature, dogs and music. Sometimes my dogs even join in on sessions – although most of the time they are sleeping they are my “telehealth support animals” and bring smiles to many.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Human Services from Upper Iowa University (Fort Riley, KS) and a Master of Social Work with a certificate in Victim and Survivor Services from Washburn University (Topeka, KS). My husband and I moved to SC in 2013 and are currently working on relocating back to KS summer2023. (I know – I’m not in KS anymore and yes I am really moving back to KS.) I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker Clinical Practice (LISW-CP) Supervisor and an ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP) with over a decade of experience working with children, adolescents and their families in various settings. These settings have included the foster care system, the Department of Juvenile Justice, in local schools and in private practice settings. I was raised as an “Army brat” which has helped me relate to many cultures and the needs of others. It is also where I get my love of traveling!
My age preference for clients is 30years and younger.
