About

I am licensed in the state of North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist-Associate (LCAS-A). My expertise is in helping families, young adults, and women. Recently, I have started to work with some geriatric patients, and I can say that I am learning and enjoying this group. I believe in the three (3) C’s of life: CHOICE, CHANCE, AND CHANGE! I believe that you must make the CHOICE to take the CHANCE that will cause your life to CHANGE! If needed, let me help you embrace the positive and creative possibilities of life. I am passionate, yet direct in my therapeutic approach to empowering people to believe that a journey of a thousand miles begins with taking the first step. I’ve done most things in my life at my own pace, on my own terms, and somewhat out of order. Nevertheless, my blessings have been birthed in my unique approach to life, which also provides me insight in this helping process. It has been my differences that have creatively shaped my life. Those differences have provided me with the color, uniqueness, humility, and flavor that defines who I am; both personally and professionally.

The egalitarian approach to helping is very much my style, as well as empowerment and strengths based theories and perspectives. I respect people as being the expert of their own life, and that your goals are what should take precedence in your helping process. Therefore, my role is often to support you through the process of problem-solving, decision-making, and owning. In other words, you must be the one to elicit change! Immediacy is a skill that I have found to be productive in conveying genuineness, empathy, and warmth in therapy. Immediacy, as a therapeutic technique, allows for the establishment of psychological acceptance, communication availability, and the open expression of genuine feelings. My goal, as the therapist is to emphasize your strengths and personal power.

Both faith and fear may sail into your harbor, but, it's your harbor and you get to decide which one gets to drop anchor. [Author Unknown].
