About

It is my belief that in maintaining hope, by receiving appropriate information and unbiased directional advice, a person can overcome any adverse obstacle encountered in life's journey. After receiving my Master's Social Work degree in 1996 I have been serving the community as a Licensed Medical Social Worker and Hospice Medical Social Worker, both in the field, making home visits and in-office in supervisory positions. I have worked as an Oncology Clinical Social Worker for a cancer institute, developing an oncology social work department that involved individual counseling and facilitating cancer groups, working with MSU with field placement students, along with working for private oncology practices assisting clients in treatment. I also have provided psychotherapy in the private sector to address mental health issues in the community in which I live. My approach to the development of a therapeutic alliance to which personal change can begin is with a narrative from the client to introduce me to their belief system to uncover their strengths and the challenge they are facing. From there, I develop a therapeutic approach from a variety of treatments that focuses on both the psychological and physiological aspects of the challenge and begin the transition toward understanding and personal growth. I have treated many disorders such as Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder, Complicated Grief, and other Trauma-Related Conditions, Crisis Intervention, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Depression, Somatic Disorders, and many other disorders that require psychotherapy. I have also worked with very young children in teaching about loss, the youngest being 2 1/2 yrs old. Everyone deserves to have feelings of hope, happiness, and contentment. Let me help you in achieving these humanistic rewards, no matter where you find yourself in your life's journey. Rhonda A. Rice LMSW Master's Social Worker
