My specialty is working with trauma - either single incident or complex traumatization. My typical client may be a survivor of an auto accident or one of childhood trauma like sexual abuse. While long term effects of trauma may become post traumatic stress of PTSD, there are many symptoms of trauma which arise shortly after an event that may be easily recognizable or somatic like with less observable but significant in terms of interference intrusive with day to day life. Many symptoms of trauma are often diagnosed as attention deficit, hyperactivity, or manifesting in substance abuse or other personality disorders involving dissociative issues. My theoretical orientation is psychoanalytical however I am solution focused as my primary modality for treatment is using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), to process trauma and trauma related symptoms, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for working to correct negative behavioral issues.
