I am a licensed psychologist in New York State. I have over 20 years of experience working with students through high school age, and with clients of all ages in a clinical setting. I have worked with clients with a range of concerns including stress, depression, anxiety, career challenges and ADHD. I have extensive training and experience in mindfulness-based approaches. I also utilize techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I believe in treating clients with respect, compassion, and without judgment, and in encouraging them to hold themselves in the same light. I avoid language that indicates disorder, and instead seek to emphasize that there is always more about an individual that is healthy than unhealthy. I encourage warm and open dialog, and will encourage you to share freely during our time together.
I draw heavily from a mindfulness approach to counseling. We will work together on strategies for calming a worried or anxious mind, increasing focus, or improving mood. Our work together will include practices that you may use at any time of the day. I will give you web-access to meditation recordings that will be usable immediately after our first session
Therapy is a journey of progress not perfection. With time and practice, you may come to experience unexpected freedoms and new joy!
