My name is Rebecca Johnson, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Denver, CO. I have 12 years of experience providing therapy to children and families involved with child welfare services. During this time I worked with parents, children, teenagers, foster parents, and adoptive parents. The clients I worked with were addressing an array of issues such as substance abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence, homelessness, mental health, physical abuse, and problems with attachment and trauma.

My counseling style stems from a client-centered approach to develop a non-judgmental and non-threatening environment to understand your goals and reasons for attending therapy. I work jointly with clients to create a pathway to identify priorities and needs for healing, problem solving, or overall support. It is imperative for a therapist to understand not only an individual’s treatment needs, but also one’s ability to address those treatment needs based on current life circumstances, and readiness.

With a trauma informed lens, I utilize multiple treatment approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic, and Solution Focused therapy. I work with clients to assess what treatment approach will be best for their individual needs.
