About
Pronouns: She/Her
Hello! My name is Rebecca Stone. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of New York. I have received education through Accredited programs through the SUNY school system and graduated with honors. I have been a therapist for the past 19 years. I work from a trauma informed perspective and have been trained in specific trauma therapies to better help my clients. I was trained by The Trauma Institute in Buffalo, NY. Over the years I have worked with all populations, ranging from the ages of 4-75. Areas of practice that I consider my expertise, other than trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, to be: Domestic Violence/Domestic Partner Abuse, Depression and Anxiety, ADHD, Childhood abuse, Sexual trauma, Family conflict and LGBTQ+ issues and concerns. I have knowledge of the Science of trauma and the impact on the brain and the body and can help to educate you on how to heal from past traumas, current triggers and the stress related to both. It is imperative that we understand what it means to be in "survival" mode and how to get ourselves grounded into a safe place. I will help teach healthy and positive coping, overcome daily obstacles to healing, mindfulness and grounding techniques and teach you to understand how your body and your brain communicate for improved calming and self/soothing. I have worked with hundreds over the years on gaining self-confidence, improved self-worth, working through guilt and shame, and the understanding that you deserve love and respect from others. Positive communication in interpersonal relationships, Trauma-informed parenting, and working with you at your starting point are also things that I have to offer. As a therapist I believe that it is important to start where my client/customer/person is at and to have a strength based mindset. We are all human and it is important that we strive to be the best humans that we can possibly be. I offer guidance on moving forward when feelings stuck, calming for anxiety and stress and improved frustration tolerance. If I am unsure of something, I will do what I can to educate myself in order to provide better care and therapy for you. I have maintained by Continuing Education and make sure that I stay up on current therapies to assist you the best that I am able. If I feel that I am not equipped to handle your situation, I will be honest and not lead you down the wrong path. My goal is to help you as the individual to reach your goals and to increase your trust in yourself as you get there.
