I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for several decades. Earlier in my life, I focused on becoming a nurse until I met a social worker who had the training and skills I wanted so I could be instrumental helping others make positive changes. I have worked in institutional settings and community settings, in agencies and in private practice. I believe that talking things out is an important tool to help someone discover who and where they want to be.

I have compared myself to a GPS. I can show you a route and you may take that route or choose another way, knowing the GPS will be there to “recalculate.”. Most important is determining just whose road one is following. On occasion people recognize the destination toward which they were travelling is not one of their choice. It was a destination imposed
