Hi there, I'm Ralph! My name is Ralph Yaniz and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois. I am based in the Chicago area, and I work with clients throughout the state of Illinois via teletherapy. I believe in working with clients to create a safe environment and primarily use a strength-based approach to finding solutions. My approach I work with adolescents and adults and my approach varies with the issues brought to the session. I most frequently use a positive psychology perspective and utilize cognitive behavioral techniques. I always maintain a psychodynamic approach that allows me to work with the client to set goals aimed at success. My focus During my 25+ years of counseling experience, I have worked with issues, such as anxiety and depression. I have also worked with clients, experiencing many other issues, such as stress, relationship issues, family issues, and addictions. My work is focused on providing an open forum to discuss everything the client can bring to the session and help navigate the next steps. My communication style My communication style is very clear and focused. I will do a great deal of listening, and I will also give feedback on observations as we move along the process. Therapy is about using words to find solutions for real-life situations. My journey to therapy I have been doing therapy for almost three decades. Throughout my undergraduate and graduate training, my goal was clear, to be able to work with individuals to make their lives better. My goals for you I approach goal setting with clients as a key element of therapy. Like following a flow chart or a roadmap, therapy needs to be focused on where we are and where we are going. We will take time every session or two to make sure we are moving along the path that we want to follow together.
