About

Hello! I'm glad you found Find A Therapist. Reaching out to talk to someone about your life can be daunting-- it's my job to join you at the beginning of your therapy process and work with you to help you achieve the goals, change or peace in your life that you're looking for.

My name is Rachel Trott, and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I graduated with a Master's in Social Work (with a concentration in trauma and grief treatment) from Arizona State University, during which time I also worked as a crisis counselor for a fire department. Later, I worked providing individual and group mental health treatment in an intensive outpatient stetting. I have also worked with adults with complicated medical diagnoses in a hospital setting. Currently, I am living in Arizona and working with Veterans who experience challenges with mental health, substance abuse and housing. I am clinically licensed in both Arizona and California (meaning I can provide services to clients who live in either state.)

I am experienced in working with adults with depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD and trauma, mood and thought disorders, substance use, grief, LGBTQ, major life transitions and self-esteem.

My therapeutic approach is client-centered and strengths-based with a side of psychoeducation. I know that the client is the only expert on their own lives, so it's my job to listen attentively, non-judgmentally and empathetically in order to help them identify goals, and work collaboratively together to achieve them. I am open to feedback, and shape my therapy according to what the client feels or shows is working (or not working!) well. Some evidence-based approaches that I use are: mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused and narrative therapy. I love to explain the modalities I'm using and why!

I am a firm believer that mental health services should be accessible, so I am excited to work with Find A Therapist providing online counseling because I know it can transcend the typical barriers like distance, cost and availability of providers. I hope to hear from you soon!

Please note that I only offer messaging, live chat and phone sessions— I am unable to offer video counseling at this time due to having a very active (and distracting) puppy in the home. :) I always ensure that I am in a calm, quiet place for our sessions.
