About

I am originally from Pennsylvania, where I attended Shippensburg University to earn my Bachelor's of Social Work, Minor in Ethnic Studies, and Master's of Social Work. I spent a summer post grad in Chicago, IL working with a faith-based urban outreach organization. I then moved to Rock Hill, SC in the Fall of 2011. During this time I've gained a variety of work experience within Rock Hill and York, South Carolina and Charlotte, NC. I have experience with youth in two different residential treatment facilities, outpatient counseling with children, teens, and adults, and was the first lead social worker with a start up non-profit for at risk teens girls and victims of commercial sexual exploitation. As a social worker, I have been in the schools, jails, and court rooms along with doing community outreach and speaking engagements to small groups. I have also been a therapist in the counseling room. My education, professional, and personal experiences, have given me opportunities to spend time with people of all different backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, and lifestyles.

I began my private practice in June 2018 under the name, "Selah Services, LLC." My counseling experience has involved working predominately with adults in their 20's through age 80. I have provided support to people struggling with life transitions like: moving to a new location, finishing college, dating relationships, self-discovery and redefining the stories of their past. I have provided support through family relational problems, processing experiences of adult and childhood traumas, self-harm, grief and loss, unemployment, domestic violence, boundary issues in relationships, depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem and self-compassion. I can provide spiritual insight to better understand identity and how to cope with pain and suffering.

I am certified as a Daring Way Facilitator. The Daring Way is an empirically based training and certification program for helping professionals, based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown. It offers several curriculum's that focus on the topics covered in Brené’s books including courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy. https://thedaringway.org/

I view you as strong and courageous to be seeking out help or guidance. This is vulnerability; this is courage. Within a trusting and healthy relationship, you are allowed to express your true thoughts and feelings in a way that brings healing, clarity, wisdom to understand, acceptance, forgiveness, and growth. This can be a very difficult process, and sometimes we become so discouraged and lose hope for things to get better. When we feel overwhelmed or just stuck in our situation, we can feel the most alone and isolated, around people, but not feeling connected or getting what we need. It is my desire to create a safe place for you and I to work through these things together, talk through your story of the past, present, or future, or whatever is bothering you, and equip you to find peace and comfort beyond our sessions. As mentioned, my private practice is Selah Services. "Selah" means to pause and reflect; think about the weight of what was just read or spoken or experienced. I welcome you to try this out. To come and see. ~Selah ~
