Hi there, I'm Mikyong! My name is Mikyong Kim-Goh. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and university professor with 30 years of clinical training, consultation, and practice experience with multicultural population groups. My approach As a bilingual Korean/English speaking therapist, I approach all clinical situations with openness and cultural humility, engaging clients as equal partners in the process of healing and self-discovery. My focus My areas of specialty include intergenerational conflicts in immigrant families, relationship issues, depression, trauma, and intercultural issues. My communication style My approach to therapy is strength-based and combines warmth, compassion and insight with emphases on practical problem solving and coping strategies. My journey to therapy As a full professor at a large public university, I have educated both graduate and undergraduate social work/human services students for many years. I have also conducted staff training for the county as well as providing clinical supervision and consultation at various counseling agencies. My goals for you I approach goal setting as a collaborative process where the clients ultimately decide on the goals, while my role is to facilitate the process in a way that is beneficial to the clients. My first session with you During the first session, I will ask clients a few questions about their reason for seeking therapy, their expectations, and previous history of therapy. We may also be able to come up with tentative goals for future sessions.
