About

Like those funny 1980s "hair club for men" commercials used to say I'm not just a therapist but I've also been a client. I've also am or have been a parent, spouse, working professional in the business and tech space, and have some colorful life experiences to boot. Prior to doing counseling professionally I volunteered with the Crisis Text Line for a couple years, in part motivated by my own past experiences of struggling. But enough about me...

Why might therapy be useful to you?
Therapy is useful because as humans, and particularly as individuals we can't totally see the world as it "is", but rather we see our own perspective on the world, and "Our representation of the world determines to a large degree what our experience of the world will be... [and] what choices we will see available to us as we live in the world" (Bandler & Grinder, 1975). A fancy word for this is Johari window, but you don't need to know that to benefit from therapy.
*Suggested Experiment: take two (2) minutes and watch the "Selective Attention Test" online (Cool, huh?)

Therapy is an opportunity to (gradually, at your own pace) openly and honestly explore and observe your experiences and behaviors in life, and generally by doing so, gain greater awareness and begin to see options that were likely hidden there before but are now also visible.

Therapy is a journey of discovery, learning, and experiments in areas such as thinking, behaviors, experiencing, feeling, that unfolds naturally at your pace.

I've worked with a variety of individuals in both individual and group therapy, from all walks of life, with a variety of different goals, needs, challenges and strengths, and I continue to find great satisfaction in seeing people change their behaviors, grow, and flourish in their lives.
