About

The approach we’ll use in our work together is coaching. Coaching is a method that focuses on the present and future while being informed by the past. In coaching, we don’t focus on the past. We use it to understand how behaviors used today that may not be serving you well now were useful and often protective in the past. Self-awareness, strength focused, behavioral practices with shifts towards who you’d like to be, how you’d like to show up, and be perceived is the focus of our work. Whether the area for improvement is in relationships, in your professional life, in your family, or a combination, coaching is a proven method to help you achieve and sustain your end goal(s).

A bit about me - I have over three decades of experience as a behavioral and relational LCSW therapist – I’m licensed in Virginia. I’m also a certified coach and credentialed by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). Lastly, I have an MBA with decades of experience in leadership and teaching roles.

I have experience in helping clients with relationship issues, motivation, self-esteem, confidence, career, and leadership goals and objectives. Taking the first step to sign up for coaching takes courage. We’ll put that courage to great use in our work together.

My medium for our work together is video. If you'd prefer chat or messaging, please select another clinician who can accommodate that. I believe so much can be gained by being able to see each other.

What Coaching Is

The origin of coaching is cognitive-behavioral, positive, and ego psychologies. However, coaching is not therapy. It is a separate and distinct modality.

Coaching begins with an assumption that you are whole, wise, and highly knowledgeable about the nature of your own personal and professional development. Therefore, the coach’s primary role is to draw out your wisdom through inquiry, curiosity, gentle provocations, and challenges that help you stretch into your best capacities including mindset, emotional intelligence (EQ), mental, cognitive, and behavioral health and agility. To do that, we introduce or co-create self-observation exercises and behavioral practices leading you to your end goal(s) and observe and learn from the outcome(s). We discuss what behaviors to start, stop, or continue.
