Hi there, I'm Paul! My name is Paul Baum, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). My approach to therapy is focusing on the person's needs and developing a therapeutic relationship with compassion, empathy, and respect. My focus areas of practice include multiple years of experience working with the LGBTQ+ community, teens, and adults. I have extensive experience with CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Gender Affirming Therapy, Anxiety Disorders, and Depression. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you. My approach The most common theoretical approaches I use, include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Gender Affirming Care, Sexuality Affirming Care, and Art Therapy. My focus Typically I work with teens and adults, with focus on the LGBTQ+ community. I have training in WPATH and Riverside County Behavioral Health with Gender Affirming and LGBTQ+ care. I am most comfortable treating Gender Affirmation, Sexuality, Anxiety Disorders, and Depression. My communication style My communication style is calm, reflective, relaxed, and compassionate. Most of my colleagues and clients describe me as patient, empathetic, and caring. I pride myself in developing a relationship with mutuality and aim to provide a welcoming space in therapy. My goals for you I approach goal setting collaboratively. The typical first step is listening to be sure I have a full understanding of the needs of the client, then providing education on the challenges/disorder with a focus on the severity of symptoms and treatment choices. I use a strengths-based approach to help narrow down goals and focus on the goals of the person causing the most life impairment and the ones they want to focus on. My first session with you During the first session clients can expect to understand what the treatment process will look like, asked questions to gain an understanding of needs, brief education, and at least one coping skill.
