About

Hello! My name is Patricia Cochran and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado. I earned my Masters of Art degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling in 2012 for Argosy University. Soon after graduating I started a career in addiction counseling for a non-profit organization. This was a fulfilling work experience that allowed me to treat clients from a diverse background and emotional needs. Following this experience, I worked in private practice treating individuals, couples and families with a wide range of concerns, such as, depression, trauma, anxiety, self-esteem, trust, communication and grief. I enjoy working with people from varied backgrounds and support them in their personal growth.

My approach to counseling is based on unconditional positive regard for the person(s) in my care. I believe that the healing process begins with a professional relationship between clients and counselor. A relationship built on respect, acceptance and trust. I believe people shouldn’t have to go alone in their journey to healing and self-improvement.

My theoretical approach to counseling is primarily cognitive-behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. I also use solution-focused and structural family therapy when appropriate. Through those approaches I aim at uncovering motivation for change, personal strengths, coping abilities, triggers, family interactions and social support. I support clients in exploring and questioning unhealthy feelings and beliefs in a way to uncover their own solutions. I also guide clients through identifying and using their strengths to build coping strategies to deal with life triggers and empower decision-making. In my approach I also often challenge clients to confront difficult truths when necessary for growth.

Therapy can be hard and painful at times so I commend people on the courage to face discomfort to obtain wellness. I look forward to working with such brave individuals such as yourself.
