About

Hi! My name is Pamela Thompson and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I love working with individuals of all ages and primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy with patients as it has been proven to be the most effective treatment for the majority of mental health issues. Having said that, I believe that therapy should be tailored for each patient and that often means incorporating other types of therapy techniques into treatment. I work most often with patients experiencing anxiety, mood disorders, adhd, life stressors and adjustment disorders from separation and divorce to life changes, but also have experience with trauma, PTSD, autism and personality disorders. My approach My therapeutic approach is to collaborate with patients to set goals and work towards them so patients feel invested in their treatment. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy because it has been proven to be most effective for patients across the board. I often incorporate positive psychology, narrative therapy, exposure therapy, and mindfulness, too, as they provide useful tools and concepts that support CBT. My focus I work most often with patients experiencing anxiety, mood disorders, adhd, life stressors and adjustment disorders from separation and divorce to life changes, but also have experience with trauma, PTSD, autism and personality disorders. My communication style I believe interactive and collaborative are good words to describe working with me in therapy. I believe being a good listener is important for a therapist but also believe in being solution focused, goal oriented, and having purpose. I feel most patients are looking for help with something specific or several issues, and want to feel they are making progress, getting help and are being heard. My journey to therapy I became interested in being a therapist way back in HS. I loved and still do love the idea of helping others.
