About

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), licensed in the State of Maine since 2015. I entered the helping field in 1987, focusing on institutional change, equality, and resiliency. I offer assistance to people seeking support with balancing the impacts of trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, grief and loss, and other significant life changes. I specialize in women’s issues and integrating the impact of sexual assault and intimate partner violence. I have completed specialized training in domestic violence victim/survivor advocacy and trauma focused counseling techniques applied with a feminist therapeutic approach.
My therapy style is warm, direct, and interactive. I believe that we all deserve to be treated with respect, dignity, and compassion. True to a feminist approach, I strive to uphold equality in relationships. I believe that you have the power to change and define yourself. My role as therapist is to encourage new insight and exploration so that you can make informed choices about your life. Your experiences are honored. The concerns you bring to counseling are viewed in the context of the environment in which you live or external influences, and how you have internalized them. The symptoms you experience are viewed as coping methods, and you will evaluate these methods in counseling to determine if they are helpful to you or harmful. In this way, with acceptance and validation, you will begin to determine the path that is right for you so that you may achieve the best quality of life possible. Regaining or strengthening your person power is a key part of this process.
It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life. I look forward to accompanying you on that journey.
