About

Hi there, I'm Norma! My name is Norma "Inez" Martinez (I go by Inez) and am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist working with clients statewide through the convenience of Telehealth. I work with adults to help manage their anxiety/depression by using evidence-based models such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. My approach I see everything through an attachment lens because we, humans, are social creatures and are affected by our relationships. I am client-centered and take a collaborative approach to creating a treatment plan with my clients. I mainly utilize mindfulness, CBT, DBT, ACT, and psycho-dynamic approaches/interventions depending on the specific needs of the client. I also check in frequently and use rating scales to make sure we are on task for your goals or need to switch gears. My focus I typically work with young adults to adults in their 30s. I am most comfortable working with anxiety, depression, general overthinking, or difficulty managing any life transitions. My favorite client is someone who is ready to understand what is holding them back, take the steps to initiate change, and breakthrough unhelpful patterns to become their most aligned self. My communication style I am an easygoing therapist who focuses on helping my clients feel comfortable and safe with me. Once we have established safety and trust my style is compassionately direct. I am straight-forward, action-oriented, as well as gentle, and understanding. My journey to therapy I became a therapist after going through my own struggles and personally benefitting from seeing an individual therapist. It has always been easy for me to talk to people and make them feel comfortable. Before I was a therapist, I worked in customer service, as a life coach, and as a case manager. I love watching my clients see what they are capable of and take steps towards a more fulfilling life.
