About
I began my path to becoming a therapist by earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice in December 2010 from the University of Texas at Brownsville. I received my Master of Education in Counseling and Guidance in December 2014 from the University of Texas at Brownsville. Beginning in January 2017, I became a Licensed Professional Counselor and in 2017 became a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC). Additionally, I am a National Certified Counselor. My approach to therapy is typically eclectic as I believe that as each individual is unique, counseling techniques and approaches used are tailored to my client’s presenting problem, needs, and goals. Not every therapy modality will work for every client therefore, as we explore your therapy goals this will guide me in the counseling approach I will utilize. The counseling approaches I utilize include but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and other evidence-based approaches. I have experience working with a variety of presenting problems including anger, grief & loss, self-harm, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, intellectual disabilities, trauma, acculturation, adjustment, relationship issues, and abuse. I have seven years of post-graduate experience in Private Practice and am a dedicated mental health professional committed to helping my clients reach their goals to live a happier and more fulfilling life.
