About

Hello, my name is Nicole Eckhardt. I have been a California Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) since December 2019 and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) since July 2016. I graduated in May 2016 with my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Military Culture and Military Families from Walden University. Although I have been licensed for a year, I have been providing counseling services under supervision from 2015-2019. I’ve owned a private practice in Clovis, CA since January 2020, and have been providing Telehealth services almost exclusively to my clients since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and stay at home orders.

As a graduate student, I gained practicum and internship experience providing individual and group counseling to young adults completing their high school education in their early 20s who had experienced/were currently experiencing substance abuse, young parenthood, gang affiliation, incarceration, foster care, domestic violence, poverty, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or difficulty with anger, grief and crisis. As an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, I provided individual and group counseling services at Kingsview Behavioral Health’s PATH program working with clients experiencing homelessness, severe mental illness, and substance abuse as well as those currently in recovery. However, the majority of my hours towards licensure were completed providing individual, couples, and family counseling through the Well Counseling Center: A Christian counseling center associated with the Well Community Church in Fresno, CA.
I have treated clients from age 6 to 75 and enjoy walking with clients in all stages of life. However, I most enjoy working with young adults, older teens, and clients who are military, veterans, or military family members. I focus on the aspect of self-care with all clients because it is an essential part of treating the whole client. I have experience treating clients who are experiencing issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, grief and loss, relationship issues, career-related issues, school-related issues, difficulty with life transitions, separation/divorce, family issues, parenting issues, communication issues, spirituality/faith related issues, addiction-recovery, and other common issues. In my private practice I also am a Community Care provider for Veterans and have experience working with clients experiencing trauma, PTSD, adjustment disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety. I have experience integrating faith into the counseling process and strongly believe there are many benefits to the integration of faith and psychotherapy. Using an eclectic approach, I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space and an empathetic presence where clients can talk about whatever is hindering them from living their best life. Together we explore and discover what each client’s unique needs are to be the person they want to be. I also enjoy incorporating creativity and using art and music into the counseling process whenever possible because it can be a source of joy and relaxation for many clients.

I believe my own life experiences and knowledge can be beneficial to fostering a healthy therapeutic relationship built on understanding and trust. I value providing a safe environment where each person feels respected, accepted and understood. I value helping others learn to take care of themselves emotionally, physically, spiritually and socially. My passion is to help individuals, couples and families find peace, healing and self-acceptance. I strongly believe integrating faith and counseling can strengthen the healing process; however, I understand and respects that this is a personal choice made by each person I work with. I also value the therapeutic bond between humans and animals. I am currently working on my certification and training to provide Animal Assisted Interventions with the help of my Canine Co-Therapist, a Miniature Schnauzer named Splash. I believe in setting the example for my clients; and as part of my self-care, I enjoy reading, relaxing at the beach with Splash and her canine siblings (Flip and Paisley) and spending time with my husband (married in 2005).

I look forward to walking with you on your journey to peace, healing, and self-acceptance!
