About

Reaching out and reading some profiles is a great step! I hope that you find the right person for your current situation.

I have been working in some capacity with kids, adolescents and adults for my whole professional career. I have worked in schools as a teacher, coach, professional development specialist, community development specialist before becoming a school social worker ten years ago. In addition to the schools experience I have worked as a grief counselor for youth who lost a parent through an arts camp for the past several summers. Through these experiences I started working with parents/guardians and realized I enjoyed providing those therapeutic moments were both helpful for them and brought me great joy as well. Common concerns clients have worked with me on are anxiety, depression, grief and loss, compassion fatigue, trauma and caregiver burnout. My approach is strengths-based and empathetic. The people I have worked with have many attributes and skills that will serve them well in their current challenging situation and it is my role to help bring those forth and work to build additional skills as well. Our work together will be client-centered and solution-focused. As it makes sense we will work on use and practice of coping skills and mindfulness. My approach is influenced primarily by family systems theory and cognitive behavioral theory.

I plan to check messages on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and will reply on those days. If there is a need that arises where messaging will be important on other days that can be arranged on an individual basis.

Besides work, I enjoy being outside with my family, going to baseball games (Go Twins) and the dog park with my stubborn basset hound, Athena.
