HI, I’M NICOL. SHE/HER THERAPIST/MOM/WIFE/AUNT/DAUGHTER/FRIEND I have always been interested in psychology. When I first began my education journey back in 1999 at Macomb Community College, I took a psychology class and struggled to pass it. I became discouraged, and decided to go in a different direction. I earned an associates degree in Early Childhood Education. I taught preschool for many years at both a private academy and public school. My experience comes from not only my education, but also my life experiences. I am able to fully empathize with many situations, including anxiety and depression, substance use, and grief. I understand the struggle of seeing a loved one feel suicidal. I also know the joy of seeing that person find the help that they needed, and learn to love life again. After years of dedicating my time to my kids, I decided I needed to return to where I first started back in 1999. I went back to school, again, and graduated in April of 2019 with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. After a semester on campus at Oakland University's counseling center, I fulfilled my internship at a group crisis counseling center. I truly love what I do, and find joy in helping others.
