Welcome! My name is Nicholas Malenka. I am an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Therapist. If you have difficulty with anxiety, sadness, interpersonal relationships, and life changes, my practice is here to help. My goal is to provide clients with the insight and tools they need to move to improve their overall mental health. I utilize an eclectic approach that may include one or more therapeutic modalities based on each client's needs, goals, and challenges. The more common modalities I may employ during sessions include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and Strength-Based Therapy.I have an established history of working with clients in their teens through their twenties who struggle with sadness, anxiety, and stress and experience difficulty with interpersonal relationships (e.g., friends, partners, and family). These adolescents and young adults may have difficulty navigating life changes, participating in day-to-day activities, and struggling with social dynamics.I aim to meet the client(s) where they are in terms of their goals and needs. I build rapport, utilize active listening while providing insight, and create an environment where the client(s) are comfortable expressing themselves. I appreciate the open discussion around the therapeutic process; client input on progress is always welcome and necessary. It is important to remember that the therapeutic process can present as challenging at times as the client(s) may process through difficult emotions, come to important realizations, and work to improve upon maladaptive thoughts, behaviors, and interpersonal dynamics.
