About
At times, we all need help finding our way and living the life we believe we deserve to live. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor with a master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana as well as a graduate certificate in Dynamics of Domestic and Family Violence. I am based out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana currently, and I work as a Behavioral Counselor with Baton Rouge General Hospital full-time. I have 4 years of experience working at inpatient and outpatient centers which primarily facilitate treatment for patient recovery and well-being. I have 3 years of experience with special needs families and children as a behavioral line technician. My main experience is in facilitating individual sessions and group sessions focused on depression, anxiety, addiction and recovery, substance abuse, anger management, domestic violence offenders, and parenting as well as many other areas of mental health.
My counseling style is warm and interactive. I use a variety of techniques and tools to help my clients have a better understanding of themselves as well as making sure that the information discussed is as clear and detailed as possible. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, and rational-emotive counseling. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
I am trained in a variety of counseling approaches, but one of my specialties derives from the fact that I am EMDR trained, which is a specific type of trauma counseling used to help people with unresolved trauma move on from the cognitive blocks that prevent them from having the life that they desire.
It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!
