About
I'm Mycca Montoya, LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist). As a therapist, I enjoy helping clients develop resilience and build on their current strengths in order to decrease and ultimately eliminate emotional distress. I work with a wide variety of clients, working through varying issues. Some of the issues I specialize in are:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Trauma/Abuse
- Grief and Loss
- Addition issues
- Family Conflict
- Parenting Issues
- Relational Issues (partner/familial)
Through empathy, support and thoughtful insight, we will work to increase you emotional well-being. I provide support and encouragement to help foster your current strengths as well as help you to find and develop additional strengths. I use a variety of modalities, all of which focus on your strengths as well as promote hope. As a therapist I feel it is important to increase a client's ability to advocate for themselves as well as give themselves credit for their success and strengths. I also value the importance of a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship between client and clinician. I am a straight shooter and I feel that honesty is key in effective therapeutic relationships. I believe that respect communicates understanding as well as empathy for any and everyone in any and every situation.
On a personal note, I was born and raised in rural New Mexico. I spend my time during the week as an outpatient therapist, working with ages 2 and up. I also spend my free time working on my family's ranch. I feel that I have been fortunate to have roots in rural America as well as planted new roots in the clinical setting.
We will work to find the best online option for you so that e-therapy fits into your life easily and works best for you. I am available to work with clients through any of the following methods:
- Video Sessions
- Live Messaging
- Telephone
- Asynchronous messaging
I look forward to working with you.
