About
I have been in the helping profession since the late 1980's. Over the years my expertise has provided me with opportunities to work with people of differing emotional and cultural/societal life experiences. I have found that reaching people requires that I respect the person, show them dignity while I learn their personal stories and acknowledge that they are the expert in their lives. My professional experience is a journey that keeps evolving. My background is wide ranging. I have experience in working with family dynamics, stress, depression and anxiety, relationship concerns, communication barriers, and teaching advocacy and empowerment skills. My jobs in the social work field allow to provide services dealing with child welfare concerns (including child protection, foster care and adoption knowledge base), family dynamics, advocacy needs, mental health, trauma-informed practice no matter the area, and a special education knowledge base that includes PBIS and FBA/BIP services.
I am client centered and incorporate respect, positive regard, reframing and challenging unproductive thoughts/beliefs you hold. I encourage and motivate people to seek their answers in a way that will help them increase the likelihood the answers will lead to life-long positive change in their decisions, self-esteem and self-regard as well as behaviors. Change is inherently difficult and evolving. What you thought worked for you as a 12 year is probably not working for you as a 32 year old. Yet, you could be stuck in that thought process without even knowing it. Working together and being trauma-informed allows me to bring that to that surface. Once a dialog begins with this knowledge base we may discover the answers were within you all along. Resiliency can be learned and clearing a path to that journey is something we will do together.
I hope you allow me an opportunity to serve you.
