About
Hi! I'm glad you are reaching out! I'm Monica. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Pennsylvania. I started my career in the mental health field in 2006 when I began working as a Bachelor’s level counselor in a residential treatment facility for children and adolescents. I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2007. I continued to work in the residential facility as a counselor while pursuing my Master’s degree. In 2012, I graduated with my Master of Social Work Degree (MSW). Following graduation I began working as a clinician/therapist in the residential treatment facility working with children, adolescents and their families. I transferred to the agency's diagnostic program in 2017 where I had the opportunity to work to determine not only diagnoses but the best services for the child and family. In early 2019, I began working in an outpatient setting working with children and adults providing therapy and counseling services.
I have experience working with clients, both children and adults, who have a variety of mental health needs including conduct disorder, anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, bi-polar, adjustment disorder, and more. I have helped clients through life transitions, adjustment issues, relationship issues, parenting, trauma, grief, abuse and more. I have experience providing individual, family, and group counseling services, as well as, crisis intervention.
My counseling style is strengths-based, warm, and interactive. My goal is to help others in their desire to improve upon themselves as well as meeting their goals. I typically utilize cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to help my clients focus on connecting thoughts, emotions and behaviors. I want to help people understand how thoughts, behaviors, and emotions relate and influence one another to restructure their thinking in an attempt to develop healthier thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors. I work from a strengths-based approach in which I focus on a client’s strengths, resiliency, and resourcefulness, and less on weaknesses, failures, and shortcomings. I strive to aid clients in developing mood stability and safety to live their best life.
