About

Hi there, I'm Miya! Hello and welcome! My name is Miya Edwards, and I am a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) in California. I am based out of the Inland Empire and provide telehealth therapy within the entire state. I work with adults to address anxiety, self-esteem, identity issues, grief, and depression, using narrative therapy to help each person I work with to develop a preferred story for themselves. My approach My approach varies depending on the person, as there is not a one-size-fits-all scenario. Therapy is tailored to you, however, it is done so from a holistic, person-centered, collaborative, and comprehensive approach. My focus My specialty focus is on the adult population, at any age. Each phase of life evokes different growth, and changes, which can result in anxiety, stress, career burnout, relationship issues, and identity struggles. My counseling training is unique in that I practice what is called “narrative” therapy. When people talk about a problem, they often begin telling a story, and the problem is woven into the story. My role is to help guide you through developing a meaningful new story that you prefer to empower you in a holistic, integrative way. My communication style I think it is imperative that each person I am working with knows that they are the experts in their lives. My role as a therapist is to facilitate the opportunity for growth and change, providing guidance. This puts me in a nonjudgmental, calm, and personable position to ensure that therapy is focused on client needs. My journey to mental healthcare Therapy is almost like a form of art but with storytelling. It is a beautiful process to witness someone have a moment of clarity, or a moment of reflection that is new to them. I have been drawn to this career since I can remember, as I’ve always looked to the “helpers” of the world and their ability to make change.
