Hi.
My name is Mithran Cabot. I have been working with folks for about 40 years in a variety of settings in Colorado, California, Florida and Massachusetts. I have studied and worked in several areas of psychology, including suicide prevention, stress management, trauma, couples' therapy, substance misuse, family therapy, ADHD, parenting and adoption support. I believe that choosing the right therapist is like choosing an art piece--work to find someone who "speaks to you" and who helps you think things through without leaving you feeling judged or manipulated. Because I appreciate how difficult it can be to find the right therapist, I will not feel hurt or judged if you choose to work with me and find you want to try someone else. It's all part of the process. I am not particularly interested in diagnoses or labels because I know you are completely unique and so trying to place you in a diagnostic category with others would actually "shrink" you down to a label. I'd rather you felt "expanded" after our sessions. However, I have PhD training in diagnosis and assessment, so if you need a diagnosis, I can provide you one. People ask me what approach I use in my work and I'd have to say "Mithran's Approach". Like every therapist, I have my own personal and professional training and experiences, and they all blend into "me" and how I work. Mix all this with the problems you are working on and we have our own unique therapy experience. I look forward to meeting you and I hope we can work well together.
