About
Hello, I’m Mitchica Smith, LCSW. Having used therapeutic services myself, I never felt the therapists personalized my sessions. They felt like basic customer service. I decided to become a therapist at 15-yrs-old. As a United States Air Force veteran, I opened my own clinic, Total Commitment Consulting Services, in 2001 and I received my Licensed Clinical Social Worker license in 2006 while I was employed at Child Protective Services.
I offer personal individualized attention to my clients. My approach to helping is trauma-informed, client-specific, evidence based, cognitive-behavioral, and solution oriented. Meaning that we will focus on developing specific strategies and skills for problem resolution. Understanding how going through a traumatic experience can affect how one relates to others, resulting in healthier and more productive relationships is imperative to move from victim to survivor to advocate for healing.
Most people maintain health insurance to take care of their physical health. However, one’s mental health is often seen from a negative perspective which causes a barrier to getting help. My vision from the time my company began has been to help our communities, their families and their children adapt and adjust to the challenges of life and the healing from going through a traumatic experience. I have a strong commitment to maintaining an ethical and effective clinical practice and my service to the larger community.
I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD, and ADHD. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. Additionally, I am also a Clinically Certified Domestic Violence Counselor working from my private practice. I work with both victims and female perpetrators as well as with the children who have witnessed relationship violence.
It takes courage to seek help. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you as you move forward and closer to healing in mind, body, and soul. I am a professional having learned skills from education and life lessons. However, you are the expert on your life. Where we start will be up to you as are the goals you are wanting to reach. I look forward to working with you!
