About

Congratulations on taking the often daunting step of reaching out!
A good client-therapist fit and the quality of a therapeutic relationship are the most important factors for you to feel supported towards the growth you're looking for; here’s some information about me to help you get a sense of fit.

MY EXPERIENCE:
•I’m a social worker licensed in Massachusetts with over 25 years of experience.
•A majority of my work has been in student/school mental health with adolescents, young adults, and learners of all ages.
•I have worked with clients on a wide range of concerns—including depression/mood issues, anxiety, and developing effective healthy relationships.
•I have particular interest and expertise in issues of identity (including culture, gender, sexual orientation, adoption). I also have extensive experience working with trauma & PTSD, complex families, mind/body connection, learning disabilities, and ASD.
•My clients have illustrated the rich variety of life’s challenges—a transracial adoptee figuring out her role in social justice activism, an elite athlete struggling with performance issues, a trans man reconciling their shifts in privilege, a divinity student wrestling with life questions, a member of a throuple navigating boundaries, a homeless urban teen looking for her place, an artist finding ways to manage his bipolar disorder through a breakup. I believe I can work with you too on what’s important to you; nothing’s too big or too small.

MY STYLE & APPROACH:
•Clients have described my counseling style as warm, welcoming, attentive, safe, and non-judgmental. I value being a good listener, strive to be clear, and tend to be both nurturing and direct.
•I believe in seeking balance. While a diagnosis can help organize a client’s perspective, I feel labels have limitations. I think processing is especially valuable when there are also pragmatic and practical action steps.
•My clinical approach is eclectic & integrative. While I’ve been trained in many different orientations and am familiar with a range of interventions, I am flexible with customizing treatment strategies. I often draw from these approaches—multicultural context, CBT, strengths-based, humanistic, relational, DBT, psychodynamic. I find that cultivating healthy self-care & collaborating to develop skills/strategies is universally helpful to clients.

I look forward to seeing if we're a fit for your goals! I welcome any questions you might have.
