About
Michelle Walker (Micki) is Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Advanced Drug and Alcohol Counselor. Motivational Interviewing is used to meet the client and develop rapport. I specialize in addiction, trauma, crisis intervention, family issues, and sexual and life difficulties. The most used therapies are CBT, Client/Person-Centered Therapy, Solution Focused, Strength Based, Trauma Informed, Humanistic Therapy, Modern Therapy, Life Transitions, Adjustment Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy. I provide services to teenagers, 16 and up, males, females, couples, veterans, addicts, and alcoholics. I treat those with eating disorders, sexual identities, grief, those with trauma, and adjustment disorders, and those struggling with life difficulties in general. I provide services in a private office which allows confidentiality. I’m non-judgmental, warm, empathic, and genuine with my clients. I believe I present a welcoming greeting that creates a safe environment to share. This allows the client to feel comfortable opening up during the intake session. I began my journey as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor with a degree in Sociology. I quickly moved into management, providing services throughout the Central Coast of California. As a manager, I was the person responsible for meeting the clients who were struggling the most. I became aware that my services were needed on a higher level and returned to school to complete my Master's in Psychology—I then completed the process of becoming licensed as an LMFT.First, I explain the process. I discuss what goals look like and how they go about reaching those goals. Goal setting is based on the client’s needs. We discuss what issue they are willing to begin working on and move on from there. I typically stress working on a goal that can be addressed and completed early in treatment. Then, I explain we will move on to the more difficult issues. I provide a compassionate introduction, making sure to meet the client where
