About

Welcome, and kudos for taking this step in self-care. For some, reaching out for support comes easily; for others it is a scary step that they are unsure of. Either way, as a Clinical Therapist, I am inspired by every individual who makes the choice to utilize this resource because there is no reason for anyone to “go it alone” in this world. My name is Michelle and I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the state of Michigan, with over 20 years in the helping field. I have been fortunate enough to work with adolescents, adults, couples and families with a wide range of difficulties. I have a passion for treating individuals with a history of trauma and helping them live a meaningful life where they don’t have to pretend the trauma never happened. I also have extensive experience treating individuals/couples with sadness, anxiety, poor coping skills, grief, anger management, and relationship issues. In addition, I have 8 years of specific experience working with survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, which has included insight of perpetrators as well.

I strive to fully understand why and what type of help someone is seeking. My own counseling style tends to be a humanistic, strengths based, and solution focused approach, while giving proper value and attention to how someone’s experiences have shaped their beliefs and behavior. I also recognize that not everyone is ready for a “solution” when they first seek help; often they just need to be heard and gain insight in to their own thoughts and feelings without judgement. I tend to use therapeutic strategies grounded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to assist clients in meeting the goals we have developed together. I do this type of work because when I see someone transition from feeling alone and struggling, to feeling validated and heard; it is the ultimate reward. I look forward to working with you!
