Hi there, I'm Michelle! Hi, my name is Michelle Godwin and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). I see people in person in the Placerville area (El Dorado county) of California and through telehealth state wide. I see a wide variety of clients ages 13-99 who are working on healing, transforming their lives or renewing themselves. My approach My approach to working with each person is adjusted according to that person's unique style of learning, personality and needs. Most often I use a variety of cognitive behavioral techniques. I am strength-based, empathetic, will often address wellness using solution focused questioning and motivational interviewing. Often people find it difficult to talk about things and I use experiential therapy techniques such as horse/canine therapy, EMDR, play, body-movement ment or drumming. The approach taken in therapy is decided collaboratively and depends on the client's learning style and goals of treatment. My focus I work with a wide variety of clients. most of my client base tends to be working on anxiety, depression, stress management, life adjustment, post-traumatic disorders and growth, grief/loss and addictions. Whatever the core problem our work focuses on detangling problems and most of all on rebuilding a life of renewal and resilience. My communication style I believe being genuine is important for the client/therapist relationship and I am genuinely curious about people. I listen calmly and may use reflection and questioning to make sure I understand a client's situation/perspective. Sometimes I may give some information on a topic if a client is interested in hearing it. I strive to create an environment which is free of judgment and one of calming neutrality where a person can heal. My journey to therapy I always found myself in the role of a listener and confidant but it wasn’t until my late 20’s when I realized I had a calling and a gift which had to be used in the helping profession.
