About
Hello, my name is Michelle Kos. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and I have over 15 years experience helping others. I have worked with all different walks of life from very small children up through the span of adulthood. I have a great deal of experience working with people going through a wide range of mental health concerns including depression, anger, hopelessness, anxiety, stress, and dysfunctional eating. My goal as a therapist is to create a safe place to discuss feelings openly and without judgement so that we can begin to progress toward desired goals. I pride myself in my ability to build a therapeutic relationship with my clients that allows us to work openly and collaboratively. We all face challenges in life. I have the utmost respect for my clients and their willingness to seek help. My ultimate goal is to make sure they get it and feel safe and comfortable doing so. My approach to counseling is eclectic and more of an integrative type of therapy focusing on the needs of my clients. A style I often find very effective is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focusing on how thoughts and behaviors interact. Great strides forward can be made when re-framing and refocusing our energy. I focus with clients on making small actionable steps toward progress. When life hands us challenges it can be overwhelming. Focusing on small steps toward a larger goal can help reduce stress and help us to move forward. I meet my clients where they are and work together to progress at their pace. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you to get you through whatever challenges life throws your way.
