About

I am a licensed clinical social worker in Vermont with 20 years of years of experience. Both in my role as a therapist and in my other professional roles as a social worker, I have made a commitment to improve the lives of those with whom I have worked. As a therapist, I have worked with people facing a variety of life challenges including depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, trauma, and addiction.

The greatest inspiration I find doing this work is that I am always surprised by the latent possibilities that are not clear at first but, with exploration, turn out to be paths towards growth. I am always surprised by what is unexpected that you find on the way. The greatest catalyst to this change is careful, engaged listening.

Although our goal is to work together to resolve the problems that bring you to therapy, I have learned over the years that this only happens fostering a trusting relationship and creating a place that you can feel comfortable opening up for the exploration.

I approach therapy drawing from cognitive-behavioral and humanistic traditions. By using cognitive-behavioral tools, I will help you explore how changing how you thoughts and actions you take can help you to move in the direction that you would like your life to go. A humanistic orientation helps me to focus attention on who you are on an authentic level, what is important and meaningful to you and what strengths you bring to your challenges that will help you to get to where you want to go.
