My name is Michael Atwood and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I have been fully licensed since 2018 but have been working in the mental health field since 2012. I have worked in a large variety of treatment setting including residential rehab, prison, hospitals, partial hospitalization, and traditional outpatient. I have worked with groups, individuals and couples with clients of varying age, ethnicity and background. I enjoy the Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy view of mental health but have studied a variety of other views to be flexible with clients needs. Outside of therapy I enjoy playing games with my friends and family. My experience with a variety of video games, board games and role playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons has helped me be able to connect with young adults and the young at heart as well as equipped me with a different set of problem-solving skills that couldn’t be learned in a classroom. I enjoy breaking down a problem and finding different tools and skills for solving those problems.
