Dr. Mercy Luguterah is a licensed Social Worker with extensive experience working with children and adults in multiple settings and across diverse cultures. Her education in Ghana, Holland, and US has deepened her understanding of the need to have not just a clinical lens in working with different populations but, most importantly, a human and empathetic lens. Dr. Luguterah believes that change is always possible when there is willingness, capability, and availability. Through therapy, individuals are able to confirm or develop a pathway to their definition of wellness. The recipient of a Dutch Fellowship Award from her native Country, Ghana, Dr. Luguterah has a Master’s Degree in Development Studies from Den Haag, a Master of Social Work, and a Ph.D. in Human Services from Capella University, MN. Dr. Mercy has an enviable record serving underprivileged communities. She has worked with street children in Ghana and a Therapeutic Foster Care Agency in Maryland, where she conducted biopsychosocial assessments and implemented individualized treatment plans. She also collaborated with stakeholders to improve the mental and social outcomes of children in school settings. Her work in diverse OMHC and Nursing homes provided new opportunities to serve a wide range of individuals. Some of the clinical methods utilized by Dr. Mercy include CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and DBT. She also volunteers her services at a community non-profit organization in Silver Spring.
