About
Hi there, I'm Melody! Melody Clemons-Smith, LCSW. Melody Clemons-Smith is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has a certification in working with the Forensic population. Melody is committed to providing therapy to individuals, couples and families. Some of Melody's clinical interests include working with high-conflict couples, socio-cultural issues, trauma, personality disorders, and cultural identity disorders. Melody utilizes an integrative and collaborative approach and tailors her work to each client’s specific needs and goals in the context of their life. Melody believes that through the client’s will to change and through cultivating a strong therapeutic relationship, therapy can catalyze effective and beautiful change. My approach I practice from a psychoanalysis, psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive, humanistic and integrative approach. My focus I work with many different clients with unique backgrounds. I specialize in working with Clients who have the following issues: Behavioral Issues, career issues, codependency, learning coping skills, cultural adjustment, depression, anxiety, domestic violence, family conflict, and self-esteem issues. My communication style Melody is warm and direct, uses humor in her sessions, and embraces complexity. Melody's Clients tend to report that they feel comfortable with her in a setting where you can tell your story in strict confidence. Melody creates a space for exploration. My journey to therapy At some point in time, everyone will need some sort of help. I became a therapist to help people overcome obstacles and challenges and live their best life. My goals for you I start goal setting by asking Clients what their overall goal really is. Identifying a starting point is my next step. I help my clients face and understand exactly where they are in terms of their goal/s. I explain why it is important that Clients are honest with themselves as well by examining where things currently stand.
